HOORAY!#2: PEPPERS FOR PERIPERI
The Zienzele groups connected to the Berejena Center were contacted by a man looking for a source of hot peppers (African Birdseye peppers, for hot pepper aficionados) to make PeriPeri hot sauce. He showed them how to plant, cultivate, and water; the women have created a huge garden with 28 Zienzele women each doing five rows. He will purchase all of what they produce! The plants are already loaded, and they timed it for a harvest that comes in three waves—hooray for this drought-hardy cash crop! The women decided as a group to set aside four rows of peppers to pay the guards that watch over the Center.
